Since 2010, Kulter. Notations series have brought together many musicians and artists to create collaborative performances based on alternative scores, visuals, sounds or words, from try-outs to site-specific projects to contributions to established festivals.

Since July 2012, Kulter. is the active partner of the global Notations 21 research project by Theresa Sauer, promoting the spirit  - experimental & generous - as well as the beauty of the works - for the eye & the hear. The concrete outcome is a growing Notations 21 European collection and an Exhibition tour in 2012/2013.

KULTER. NOTATIONS SERIES

* The idea is initially an extension of two inspiring projects: the book Notations 21 [alternative scores] & the Dutch poetry dating site Digidicht.nl [matching collaborators]. We also relate to the ideas behind the Reflex Stage project [performance playground & invisible rules].

* The Notations series aim at connecting visual and performance art publics and, through a set of both classical and experimental exhibitions of scores as visual pieces, at opening up the door to a larger set of visitors and audience.
* Since the first Notations session at Rhizomatic in March, 2010 - a contribution to the 25/25 program of the Videoformes Festival - Kulter. organised 20 gatherings & events through a network of locations in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Europe and the US.

* Meanwhile, at home - at the gallery - Kulter. creates an open safe environment to experiment and therefore welcomes regularly musicians who spontaneously offer to reflect on or interact with exhibition settings.
* The author of Notations 21 Theresa Sauer visited us to promote her research at the occasion of our 2011 Notations Festival, paving the way for a future Notations 21 European Tour that is finally happening in 2012.
